The Red CD
The 'Red' CD was a musical journey for me - a complete learning experience. I explored different types and styles of music with a variety of tools and methods. At first it was the musical challenge of style and recording and arranging the different tracks.
Then there was the process of actually mixing and mastering the arrangements so that when they were cut on a CD they sounded good. Being able to navigate the whole process was really great.

Red Track 01An orchestral arrangement of an old favorite featuring the violins with a bass and drums. Also some accents from the flute as well.
- Red Track 02
A more traditional orchestral arrangement of another old favorite featuring woodwinds and some accents from the piano.
- Red Track 03
Simple straight forward tune. This was my first composition / arrangement so I stayed in my comfort zone: simplicity and the piano.
- Red Track 04
This is one of my favorites. A militaristic arrangement of a wonderful theme. This was inspired by the 'Star Spangled Banner' A military band playing it's theme marching onward to victory.
- Red Track 05
A slow southern gospel beat with an organ anchoring the arrangement. This is easy listening with a bit of piano counter melody thrown in for added spice.
- Red Track 06
A country swing with guitars and an electric piano take this old favorite for a stroll down a country lane.
- Red Track 07
Another early composition that is a nod to the polka. And what instrument other than the accordian to make that journey. Also a bit of counter melody thrown in the middle.
- Red Track 08
Louisanna Bayou Gospel with the accordian and the banjo and a bit of spice to heat things up. Very difficult to mix and get right by the way.
- Red Track 09
Another favorite of mine. Lots going on in this one and I worked long and hard to make sure every note was perfect. Anchored with the piano with some nice organ counter melody.
- Red Track 10
Easy going, smooth, and mellow, the piece swings with the electric piano and the guitar doing the heavy lifting and the drums keeping up the pace.
- Red Track 11
A slower arrangement with the guitar holding down the fort while the accordion has a bit of fun wandering around the melody.
- Red Track 12
The piano grabs this one and takes off and does not let go. It leads through the entire piece even when it goes off the reservation to explore a bit.
- Red Track 13
This arrangement is built around the walking upright bass. I was fascinated by the concept and had to work at it to get it to fit, but it was fun just the same.
- Red Track 14
Here is a tip of the hat to the Jazz folks. I have no experience in jazz - NONE - but I had to give it a try. So, here it is with a Sax and a Bass.
- Red Track 15
My favorite by far. This was the last one I did. This piece was done in no time. It was like it just fell out of nowhere. Everything I did with it worked right from the start. I wish they all came like this one.
